Film sector now industry: Barua
Industries Minister Dilip Barua yesterday declared the film production sector as an industry, assuring to complete the related official paperwork soon.
"Branding Bangladesh is possible through this industry…quality film production based on real life can help expand its market abroad," he said.
He said this while addressing as the chief guest at a function marking the start of shooting of a new Bangla movie 'Nirsharta Valobasa' by Monsoon Films at Bangladesh Film Development Corporation (BFDC) auditorium in the city.
The minister said the government will help flourish the film industry and pledged to provide required policy support to that end.
Earlier, the country's film producers demanded the government to declare the film sector as an industry and sought financial and policy support to the sector.
