Gonoshasthaya trust to honour 40 eminent citizens
Gonoshasthaya Public Charitable Trust will confer reception to 40 eminent citizens of the country for their contribution to the War of Liberation in 1971 through a programme on February 18.
The three-day-long programme to celebrate the 40 years of the trust will be held at its head office in Savar, said Deputy Registrar Mir Murtoza Ali Babu of Gono Bishwabidyalay, a sister concern of the trust, at a press conference in its Dhaka office yesterday.
Prominent citizens and politicians will participate in open discussions at the programme on topics including the country's achievements, challenges and opportunities.
Opposition Leader and BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia is supposed to attend the programme's closing ceremony on February 20 as the chief guest, said Babu.
Prof Zafrullah Chowdhury, a trustee of Gonoshasthaya Public Charitable Trust, said the trust will build a modern specialised cancer hospital at Savar within the next three years for providing health services to the poor at low cost.
