55 houses gutted in Ctg

At least 55 slum houses were gutted in a fire in Rajakhali embankment area in the port city yesterday. Agrabad Fire Station sources said the fire originated from an oven of a house at around 11:30am, soon engulfed the adjoining houses. Valuables worth Tk 5 lakh were burnt to ashes in the blaze. Four fire fighting units from Lama Bazar and Chadanpura Fire Stations rushed to the spot and doused the flame after two hours of their efforts.
