Fire arms seized, two on remand

Officials of Detective Branch (DB) of police arrested two youths with two foreign fire arms and ammunitions in their possessions from the city's Naya Paltan early yesterday. The two youths Md Samiullah Shaon, 22, and Golam Mostafa, 35, were produced before a Dhaka court and placed on a three-day remand in a case filed with Paltan Police Station. On information, a DB team conducted a raid at a lane of Naya Paltan, arrested the two and seized a fire arm and three bullets from Mostafa's possession around 12:10am. Later, as per their information the police seized another fire arm and five bullets from Shaon's house at Fakirapool in the city. The DB officials claimed both of them came from solvent families but used to commit crimes like snatching, stealing to buy drugs. Shaon completed O level from Darjeeling, India and A level in the country.
