3 eateries, one pharmacy fined
A mobile court fined owners of three Chittagong eateries and a pharmacy around Tk 1 lakh yesterday for serving food in unhygienic environments and selling date-expired medicine.
The owners of S Alam Restaurant and Hotel and M/S & Sweets at Andarkilla under Kotwali Police Station were fined Tk 25,000 each for having unhygienic environments.
Dhaka Bengal Sweet in the same area was fined Tk 50,000 for not having certification from Bangladesh Standards and Testing Institution. The adjoining Joy Punjab Medico Centre was fined Tk 1,000 for selling date-expired medicine.
Rapid Action Battalion-7 assisted the drive led by the commerce ministry Deputy Secretary and Executive Magistrate Zobaer Ahmed from 11:30am to 2:00pm.
