Meghalaya CM in city to receive mother’s honour

Meghalaya Chief Minister Mukul Sangma has arrived in Dhaka to receive his mother Rawshanara Begum Sangma's posthumous honour from Bangladesh in recognition of her role in the Liberation War. President Zillur Rahman and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will hand over the awards at a state ceremony at the Bangabandhu International Conference Centre at 10:00am today. Rawshanara has been selected in the “Friends of Liberation War Honour” category by the National Committee to Honour Foreign Friends of Liberation War, headed by Foreign Minister Dipu Moni. The government had earlier invited some 110 foreign friends, of whom 76 have arrived here to receive the award.
