Peacekeeper buried with military honour
Wing Commander M Abdul Haris was buried at his family graveyard in Faridpur with full military honour after the second namaz-e-janaza.
His first namaz-e-janaza was held at BAF Base Bashar in Dhaka yesterday.
The officer died on UN Mission in Democratic Republic of Congo on April 16 this year at the age of 49 while he was undergoing medical treatment.
He left behind his wife, one son, one daughter and a host of relatives to mourn his death.
Assistant Chief of Air Staff Air Vice Marshal Abu Esrar, senior defence officers and members of all ranks attended the janaza.
Later, Haris' body of was sent to his Dharmohati village home at Boalmari in Faridpur by a BAF helicopter.
Haris, son of late Abdul Latif Miah and late Salima Begum, was born in an aristocratic Muslim family at the village on first January 1963.
He joined Bangladesh Air Force on August 1, 1989 and commissioned in logistic branch on January 23, 1990.
