The High Court yesterday stayed the Bangladesh Bar Council election for four weeks. It also issued a rule upon the Bangladesh Bar Council chairman, vice chairman and secretary to explain within four weeks why the election with faulty voter list will not be illegal. The election was supposed to be held on May 28. The HC bench of Justice Farid Ahmed and Justice Sheikh Hasan Arif gave the order in response to a writ petition filed by four Supreme Court lawyers including Mohammad Saleh Uddin. Advocate MI Faruqi moved the case for the petitioners while Additional Attorney General MK Rahman stood as state counsel.
