100 DU teachers want Ilias back soon

Staff Correspondent
Around 100 pro-opposition teachers of Dhaka University at a programme yesterday demanded that the government locate BNP leader M Ilias Ali and his driver without further delay to uphold democracy in the country. They said the government should quit power unless it locates the people, including Ilias, who went missing since the incumbent government assumed power in 2009. The comments were made at a human chain at Aparajeya Bangla on the campus, organised by a section of BNP-Jamaat backed teachers. Prof Sadrul Amin, arts faculty dean, demanded that an independent judicial investigation body be formed to probe the abductions and mysterious disappearances that had taken place since the Awami League-led government came to power. The programme was also addressed by former DU pro VC Prof AFM Yousuf Haider, Prof Tasmeri SA Islam, and Prof Sayed Rashedul Hasan, former pro VC of National University.
