World Frog Preserving Day observed
World Frog Preserving Day was observed on Friday in Chittagong and different areas of the country for the first time.
The slogan of the day was “Our role in preserving frogs”.
To mark the day, Chittagong Veterinary and Animal Sciences University (CVASU) and Save the Frogs USA jointly organised a seminar, rally, frog gallery and art exhibition at the university aimed at creating awareness among general people and letting them know about role of frogs in environment.
Dr Mohammed Masuduzzaman presided over the seminar.
Vice Chancellor Dr AS Mahfujul Bari was present as the chief guest while FAO representative James Ginjesiere, Dr Farid Ahsan were present.
Two scientific papers were presented by Dr Farid and Nurul Islam, executive director, Save the Frogs Bangladesh. The speakers said about 46 varieties of frogs are found in the country so far.
