Cellphone sets worth Tk 20 lakh seized
Police yesterday arrested two youths in the port city on charge of bringing mobile phone sets and accessories from abroad without proper documents.
The arrestees are Md Alamgir, 28, and his younger brother Md Jahangir, 25, residents of Kanchan village of Satkania upazila.
Alamgir was a regular passenger on Dubai route and brought goods like cell phone sets and other valuables, said Bandar Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Nurul Afsar.
He said they arrested them from Navy gate area with the goods worth around Tk 20 lakh.
Although they carried 170 mobile phone sets of different models and accessories they failed to show any supporting documents such as tax papers, the OC added.
