Jheelmil Project
60 more plots allotted
Rajdhani Unnayan Kartipakkha (Rajuk) allotted 60 plots at Jheelmil Housing Project among five categories of applicants through the second phase of lottery held at the housing ministry yesterday.
However, it suspended lottery for first class officials of government and autonomous institutions.
Rajuk was supposed to hold the lottery on a total of 270 plots. Allotment of remaining plots is pending for the above-said category of applicants.
The category of the officials was excluded, as grading on the basis of service length and pay scale is yet to be completed, said Sheikh Abdul Mannan, a member of Rajuk Board, adding that they would be considered in three grades.
"We hope to hold the lottery for them soon," he said.
The categories for which lottery was held included lawyers, agronomists, engineers, physicians and journalists.
Half of the total of 20 plots earmarked for journalists was allotted through lottery and the rest will be distributed through negotiation among state minister for housing, press secretary to prime minister and union leaders of journalists.
Rajuk allotted 520 plots among applicants under nine general categories through first phase lottery on April 11. All the lottery results are available on Rajuk website.
Lawmakers and judges will be eligible directly for allotment.
The 381-acre housing scheme located by Dhaka-Mawa highway in Keraniganj two kilometres off China-Bangladesh Friendship Bridge, has a total of 1,090 plots, according to Rajuk officials.
