Woman 'murdered' for dowry
Police recovered the body of a young woman from Bagha Health Complex after unknown persons left it at its corridor yesterday afternoon.
The victim was identified as Shifa Begum, 27, wife of Shiarul Islam of Gaonpara in Bagha upazila.
Shukur Mollah, a physician of the health complex, said they found the body lying on the hospital corridor around 4:00pm.
Ali Ahmed Hasmi, OC of Bagha Police Station, said none was found at the house of her husband.
However, the OC informed that Shifa's mother Banera Begum alleged that her in-laws murdered her and fled the house leaving the body at the hospital.
The OC said the body bore several marks of injuries.
Victim's mother Banera Begum told reporters that her son-in-law, Shiarul, informed her that Shifa committed suicide before fleeing home.
Banera said Shifa married Shiarul only seven months back with dowry money of Tk 50,000..
