Check approval of pvt varsity campuses before admission
UGC urges students, guardians
University Grants Commission (UGC) yesterday urged the students and their guardians to check the approval of the private university campuses before admission as some universities are running on illegal campuses in the capital.
Initially, the commission found some unapproved campuses of two universities, Prime University and The People's University of Bangladesh, in the capital, said an official seeking anonymity.
The commission, in a statement, said Prime University's Uttara campus is not approved by the UGC and the authorities of the university notified the commission that they closed the unapproved campus in Uttara.
Mirpur campus of Prime University is the only campus approved by the commission, it said.
The People's University of Bangladesh has its main campus in Mohammadpur and a Textile Department in Uttara, said the commission, adding that the university has no other campuses or outer campus in the country.
The commission suggested the students not to take admission to the unapproved campuses of the two universities.
It also said the commission has already taken initiative to close the campuses.
