Matiul Mawla, chief engineer of MV Jahan Moni, a vessel which was under the hostage of Somali pirates for three and half months last year, died of a cardiac arrest on Tuesday. He was 60. Matiul left behind his wife, one daughter and one son. He was buried at a graveyard in the capital's Banani after Zohr prayers yesterday. Matiul suffered the heart attack on Chittagong bound Subarno Express train. The crewman and his wife were among the 26 Bangladeshis held hostage on board the Bangladesh-flagged vessel by the Somali pirates for 99 days since December 11, 2011.
