Abducted trader rescued
Police rescued an abducted businessman and arrested an alleged kidnapper in the port city early hours of yesterday.
The rescued Akbar Hossain, 20, hailing from Sandwip and a resident of Panchlaish in the city, was abducted on Wednesday evening.
The arrestee Rabiul Hossain Rabi, 20, hailing from Panclaish, introduced himself as the Chittagong bureau chief of the daily “Bhorer Alo”.
Acting on a tip-off, Panclaish police conducted a drive in Jatisangha Park area at around 5:00am and arrested him.
Based on Rabiul's information, they rescued Akbar at the western side of the park, said Sub-Inspector (SI) and Investigation Officer (IO) Nazrul Islam.
He said: “Akbar borrowed Tk 26 lakh from Rabiul for business purposes few days ago. Rabiul kidnapped Akbar as he failed to repay the money.”
