Schoolgirl found dead

Police recovered the body of a schoolgirl from behind a bush at Charpolash village in Pakundia upazila yesterday morning. The deceased, Moina Akter, 13, a class-VII student at Charpolash High School, was the daughter of Md Shahabuddin of the village. Police suspected she was strangulated as the body bore injury marks on the neck, throat and mouth, while a scarf was found warped around her neck. Locals said Moina was a student at Soilajani Madrasa near her house. Lalon Mia, 19, the son of Alauddin of the same village, used to stalk her on her way to and from the madrasa. Disturbed by Lalon, Moina's father sent her to the house of her maternal uncle Ashraf Uddin and got her admitted to Charpolash High School. Lalon's stalking was yet to stop. To get Moina rid of Lalon, recently her uncles have arranged her marriage, which was scheduled for coming Sunday (tomorrow). Family sources said Moina went missing Wednesday afternoon. On information, police recovered the body from near Ashraf's house around 10:00am yesterday and sent it to Kishoreganj adhunik sadar hospital morgue for autopsy. Lalon and his father Alauddin could not be contacted as their phone was found switched off. Nobody was arrested in this connection. On March 29, police recovered the body of a madrasa girl from Hushendi Purbapara village in the same upazila, while police arrested three people in connection with that incident.
