Govt plans fertiliser price cut: Razzak
Food Minister Dr Abdur Razzak yesterday said the government was planning to reduce the prices of fertilisers considering the troubles faced by the farmers.
“We know the farmers are suffering due to rise in fertilisers and diesel prices. Country's overall development will be hampered if subsidies in fertilisers and diesel are increased further,” he said.
The minister was addressing a view exchange meeting with rice traders and civil society members on food godown premises at Ashuganj.
The minister also visited the government silo in the area.
The minister assured the local farmers of constructing a one-lakh tonne capacity food godown at Ashuganj and increasing the amount of food procurement in the region taking into consideration the overall situation of Brahmanbaria and Kishoreganj.
