Political will stressed to cut maternal, newborn deaths
Global maternal and child health specialists yesterday emphasised 'strong and sustainable' political commitment to reducing maternal and newborn deaths.
They made the call at the end of a three-day programme titled “Asia regional meeting on interventions for impact on essential newborn and obstetric care: Make every mother and baby count”.
USAID's flagship Maternal and Child Health Integrated Programme (MCHIP) organised the meeting at a hotel in the capital, said a press release.
The specialists also called upon donors to invest more to help the vulnerable countries tackle challenges in reducing maternal deaths.
