2 held in slum eviction incident
Hathazari police yesterday arrested two youths in a case filed on charges of obstructing the government's staff in discharging their duties during a slum eviction drive at Swandip Colony of South Pahartali in Hathazari upazila on Monday.
The arrestees Bablu, 24, son of Abu Hanif and Abdur Rahman, 23, son of Mohammed Shahjahan, of the slum were produced before a Chittagong court yesterday and sent to jail, said Sub-Inspector of Hathazari Police Station Lokman Hossain.
The case was filed against fifteen to sixteen hundred unidentified persons on Monday.
15 police and 35 slum dwellers were injured in a clash between them during the drive.
