Muggers shoot cloth trader, snatch Tk 3 lakh
Five armed muggers shot a cloth trader in the abdomen and snatched Tk 3 lakh from him in broad daylight on the Dhaka-Narayanganj Puratan Sarak yesterday.
The victim, Mohammad Jasimuddin, 35, son of Abdur Rashid of Allama Iqbal road of the town, said the muggers, on two motorcycles, intercepted the battery-run three-wheeler he was in before the government quarters in Panchaboti area.
They shot him after he refused to let go of his bag, containing Tk 4 lakh. During the struggle, Tk 1 lakh fell out of the bag and the muggers fled with the rest, said the victim.
The locals first rushed him to a hospital at Khanpur and later shifted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital.
Jasimuddin said he had drawn the money from a bank around 12:00noon.
