Padma bridge, Abul Hossain and WB
We don't know whether the recent resignation of Abul Hossain will affect the decision of WB or not. This could have been done before, when the WB pointed finger at him. During his time as communications minister, his performance had always been questioned by the general people.
We know when any corruption charge is brought against any government ministers or high-ups, at first they deny everything and then try to collect the certificate of Anti-Corruption Commission. ACC then gives the person in question a clean chit. But ultimately the whole thing goes against the ruling government, as people lose their trust in it. As a nation we are not in such a position that we can build the Padma bridge with our own money. It may sound good but practically not viable. General citizens have no evidence that Abul Hossain did anything wrong. But the government should realise that public perception is not in his favour. The way the government has handled the issue of corruption in Padma Bridge project was wrong. Our diplomatic weakness has become clear. Even our PM said many things about WB following the cancellation of the fund. When the PM of a country makes comments on any international organisation, it reflects the opinion of the whole country. This can make things difficult. We need the financial assistance of the world bodies for many development projects. So we should not quarrel with the WB. We need to strengthen our diplomacy to reach the expected goal without sacrificing the country's interest. Our politicians should realise that national politics and international politics are two different things. We hope the government will show some skills in diplomacy and make Padma bridge happen.
