Ghulam Azam's Trial
Sultana Kamal to testify on Sept 10
The International Crimes Tribunal-1 yesterday set a new date (September 10) to record the deposition of Sultana Kamal, executive director of rights body ASK, in a war crimes case against former Jamaat-e-Islami chief Ghulam Azam.
Sultana Kamal, also former adviser to a caretaker government, was to testify yesterday, and she attended the court as per schedule.
But the tribunal headed by Justice Md Nizamul Huq said it had to complete the cross-examination of the investigation officer of a case against Jamaat leader Delawar Hossain Sayedee before recording her testimony.
After the tribunal asked the prosecution to produce the witness after August 26, Prosecutor Zead Al Malum proposed the new date.
Nizamul Huq adjourned the proceedings against Ghulam Azam until August 27 and asked the prosecutor to produce another witness on that day.
Ghulam Azam and Sayedee are respectively facing five and 20 charges for allegedly committing crimes against humanity during the 1971 Liberation War.
