All ministers, MPs corrupt: Fakhrul
All the ministers and MPs of the present government are corrupt, BNP Acting Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir said yesterday.
He blamed the corruption for government's "losing" the World Bank fund for Padma bridge.
"The World Bank cancelled fund for the Padma bridge project due to corruption of the government,” Fakhrul told a meeting at Mohammadpur Board Office in the sadar upazila.
He asserted that Padma bridge would get top priority if BNP was voted to power. “We will build it with the help of the World Bank and other donor agencies.”
He also reiterated the opposition's demand for the restoration of caretaker government system. Otherwise, Fakhrul warned, BNP would not participate in the next general election.
He accused the ruling party of plotting to hold on to power and said scrapping of caretaker government system was a ploy to this regard.
The top BNP leader said the ruling party was violating its electoral pledges. Prices of essentials are shooting up by day by day, he said.
Fakhrul said the price of electricity had also been unbearable for common people.
He alleged that in the name of quick rental power, the ministers and advisers had looted thousands of crores of taka.
