Govt to probe pushing people off running trains
The government has formed a probe committee to investigate recent incidents of pushing people off running trains.
Communications Minister Obaidul Quader said this yesterday while talking to journalists after visiting Meerer Gaon in Gazipur Sadar upazila where some bodies of unidentified people have been recovered recently.
On Thursday, police recovered three bodies near Dhaka-Rajshahi rail line in the area.
Quader said the probe committee, headed by Joint Secretary of Railway Ministry Md Mostafa, has been asked to submit its report within 15 working days.
The other members of the committee are railway's Additional Director General Mohammad Shahjahan and Deputy Inspector General Mohammad Sohrab Hossain.
The minister also asked law enforcers to take stern actions against extortionists on highways ahead of Eid-ul-Fitr.
Mentioning the prime minister's zero tolerance policy towards extortion, he termed extortion one of the main reasons behind traffic jam.
Administrative actions must be taken against those involved in extortions, he said.
