State Minister for Law Advocate Quamrul Islam yesterday said there is no difference between BNP and anti-liberation forces in the country. During and after the liberation war, the nation's enemies have remained the same, though their facades have been changed, he said. “The BNP was born from the killing of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. The August 21 grenade attack, rise of Mufti Hannan and Bangla Bhai were fueled by the BNP,” he alleged. The minister made the remarks at a discussion on "trial of war criminals, terrorism, obliteration of democracy and law, rise of communal politics, and killing of freedom fighters and army personnel" in the capital. Bangabandhu Sangskritik Jote (BSJ) organised the programme at Institution of Diploma Engineers, Bangladesh. Awami League Organising Secretary Ahmed Hossain said, "The BNP chairperson must take lesson from past mistakes, and refrain from creating a political impasse centering the demand of a caretaker government." "The month of August is a month of mourning. The difference between AL and BNP is that the opposition does not have a cause for mourning, they have no history of pain, suffering or loss," he said. Dhaka City Awami League Organising Secretary Shah Alam Murad, Krishak League Organising Secretary MA Karim, and BSJ General Secretary Arun Sarkar Rana, also addressed the programme.
