Hasina, Khaleda swap Eid cards
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and Leader of the Opposition Khaleda Zia yesterday greeted each other by swapping cards marking Eid-ul-Fitr.
On behalf of the prime minister, her protocol officer, Sheikh Aktar Hossain, handed over an Eid card to the opposition leader's personal secretary, ASM Saleh Ahmed, at the latter's parliament office yesterday noon.
Reciprocating the gesture, Saleh, on behalf of Khaleda, delivered an Eid card for the premier to her personal secretary-2, Selima Khatun, at the Prime Minister's Office, sources at the BNP chairperson's office said.
The chiefs of the two major political parties greet each other during the two Eids and Pahela Baishakh, the first day of the Bangla New Year, though they are not on talking terms.
Hasina is set to return home today following her official UK visit while the BNP chairperson is in Saudi Arabia to perform Umrah.
