Three businessmen jailed for fertiliser adulteration
A mobile court sentenced three businessmen of Rajshahi BSCIC estate area to three months in prison for adulterating fertiliser and animal feeds.
The three men--Zahangir Hossain, 47, Robiul Islam, 38, and Uzzal, 32-- were also fined Tk 30,000 each on the same charge.
They used to mix sand and brick power in fertilisers, pesticides and animal feeds. The products were manufactured in two neighbouring sites in BSCIC area in Sopura of the city.
The mobile court led by Executive Magistrate M Sujauddoula also damaged about 28 maunds of adulterated fertiliser, 13.72 maunds of liquid and solid pesticides, and 34.86 maunds of fish, cattle and poultry feed.
