Buet Situation

BNP demands removal of VC, Pro-VC

Accusing the government of destabilising the country's higher educational institutions through politicisation, BNP yesterday urged the government to remove Vice Chancellor of Buet to bring an end to the ongoing stalemate at the institution. “Government has created a deadlock situation at campuses including Buet. Both VC and Pro-VC should be removed without further delay,” said BNP acting secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir while talking to journalists after visiting some party leaders at a hospital in the capital. He said the situation will not be normal in Buet if VC and Pro-VC are not removed soon. Teachers and students of Buet are in a movement demanding removal of both the top administrative persons of the institution. Earlier on Tuesday night, in a meeting with Buet teachers, Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid assured that the pro-VC will be removed. But the agitating students rejected the decision.
