Fire kills one, guts valuables
A man was killed and valuables worth around Tk 9 lakh were gutted in separate fire incidents in Chittagong yesterday.
In an incident, a man was killed, and a house and two shops were gutted in Miakhan Nagar Boubazar area in Chittagong city.
The deceased was Akbar Ali, 55.
Fire Service and Civil Defense sources said the fire originated from a mosquito coil at a residence around 5:40am. Valuables worth around Tk 6 lakh were damaged in the fire.
In another incident, eight shops were gutted in Bania Pukur Par area of Raojan upazila early yesterday.
Fire Service and Civil Defense sources said the fire originated from an electric short circuit at a shop around 12: 00am. Valuables worth around Tk 3 lakh were damaged in the incident.
