Eight robbers arrested
Bangladesh Coast Guard (East Zone) arrested eight alleged robbers with 24 sacks of stolen sugar and two engine boats from the Karnuphuli river in Chittagong early yesterday.
A team of coast guard members conducted a drive at Outer Anchorage area of the river and caught the robbers at about 2.30am, said coast guard sources.
“We seized 1,660kg of sugar in 24 sacks from them,” said Lt Commander MM Majumdar, anti-piracy officer of Bangladesh Coast Guard (East Zone).
