2 killed in clash in Sylhet
Two people were killed and 50 others injured in a clash between two rival groups at Paschimgaon village in Bishwanath upazila of Sylhet yesterday.
The deceased were Abdur Nur, 55, and Abdul Khalique, 45.
Quoting locals, police said supporters of Abarat Ali, chairman of Daulatpur union, and of Abdul Mollah locked into a quarrel over a land dispute and establishing supremacy in the area on Friday.
Following the incident, the two groups yesterday attacked each other equipped with firearms, sharp weapons and wooden sticks.
The injured were admitted to Sylhet Osmani Medical College Hospital.
Additional police were deployed to avoid any untoward incident in the area.
