BCL men beat up CU journo
Some 20 self proclaimed pro-Awami League Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) activists beat up a journalist inside a classroom of communication and journalism department yesterday.
Rubel Das, in his second year in English department and claiming to be a follower of CU BCL President Mamunul Hoque, arrived in room 504 around 1:45pm, said Tasnim Hasan Riad, a fourth year student of the journalism department.
Tasnim, CU correspondent of Daily Suprobhat Bangladesh, said Rubel, on not finding him, attacked his classmate Mujibul Karim, a journalist of CUtimes24.com.
Rubel and some BCL activists were angry with him for publishing a report on the food quality in the CU cafeterias, he added.
Mamunul however denied that Rubel was a BCL activist.
