7 killed, 18 hurt in road crashes
Seven people were killed and eighteen others injured in separate road accidents in Thakurgaon, Chittagong, Jessore, Rangpur and Dinajpur on Saturday and yesterday.
Our Thakurgaon correspondent reports, two persons were killed and 18 others injured as a Dinajpur-bound bus from Panchagarh fell into a ditch beside Thakurgaon-Dinajpur highway at Khochabari in sadar upazila yesterday afternoon.
The deceased were Girish Chandra, 75, and Alam, 55.
Of the injured, six were undergoing treatment at Rangpur Medical College Hospital while the others at Thakurgaon Sadar Hospital.
In Chittagong, an unidentified old man died after a vehicle ran him over in Patiya upazila early yesterday.
He succumbed to his injuries at Chittagong Medical College Hospital.
In Jessore, Liton Rahman, 24, a worker and son of Abdul Majid of Benapole, was killed instantly as a truck ran him over in Benapole port area yesterday morning.
In Rangpur, motorcyclist Lokman Ali, 45, of Kellabandh area, died instantly as a bus hit him on Rangpur-Dinajpur highway in Hajirhat area in the city yesterday morning.
Following the accident, agitating locals put up barricades on the highway for one hour.
In Dinajpur, a bus hit motorcyclist Md Motin, son of Md Mominul Islam of Biral upazila, at Dhukurjhari village in the upazila yesterday morning, killing him instantly.
Meanwhile, Abdul Zabbar, son of late Insan Ali of Dinajpur municipality, was killed when a tractor hit him in Pulhat area of Dinajpur town on Saturday night.
