4 killed, 55 hurt in road crashes

Four people were killed and 55 others injured in separate road accidents in Brahmanbaria and Dinajpur on Wednesday and yesterday. Our Brahmanbaria correspondent reports, three youths were killed and five others injured as a truck fell into a ditch beside Nabinagar-Rasullabad road at Kanabaria village in Nabinagar upazila around 9:30pm on Wednesday night. The deceased were Md Raihan, Md Liton Mia, and Md Alam Mia, of Ulchapara village in sadar upazila. Witnesses and police sources said the Rasullabad-bound truck from Brahmanbaria, plunged into the ditch, killing the three instantly and injuring the five. The injured were admitted to Nabinagar Upazila Health Complex. In Dinajpur, Md Nur Islam, 42, member of Belaichandi Union Parishad of Parbatipur upazila, of Kasarpur village, was killed instantly as he hit his motorbike with a roadside tree, while he was returning his home, in Haribhanga area of the upazila Wednesday night. Meanwhile, at least 50 passengers were injured as two buses collided head-on on Thakurgaon-Dhaka highway at Rampur village in Kaharol upazila yesterday morning. They were taken to Dinajpur Medical College Hospital, Kaharol Upazila Health Complex and Birganj Upazila Health Complex.
