Drugs stolen from community clinics seized in Rangpur
Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) members seized 4, 23,360 pieces of contraceptive pills, to be smuggled, of different community clinics of Rangpur on Thursday afternoon.
The Rab men also arrested one Amal Chandra Barman, 42, from Sathmatha area of Rangpur.
According to Salah Uddin Alamgir, squadron leader of Bangladesh Air Force and commander of Rangpur Rab-5, Amal was planning to smuggle the drugs to India.
One Belal, owner of Bishthi Pharmacy, used to collect free drugs from community clinics and sell them, Alamgir said quoting Amal.
Every few months, Amal used to buy the drugs from Belal's pharmacy and smuggle them, he added.
Rab handed the arrestee over to Rangpur Kotwali police and a case was lodged in this connection.
