Islamist orgs protest against anti-Islam film
Different Islamist organisations yesterday staged demonstrations and brought out processions in the capital yesterday protesting a film made in the US and mocking Islam.
Protests began worldwide against the film from September 11. The exact origin of the film and the motivation behind the production remain a mystery, reports BBC.
After Juma prayers, activists of Islami Andolan Bangladesh, Islami Oikya Jote and Khelafat Majlish brought out a procession from Baitul Mukarram National Mosque and were barred by police from progressing at Shantinagar intersection.
The organisations' leaders demanded that the film be condemned in the parliament and the US government punishes the filmmaker.
Islami Oikya Jote, Islami Oikya Andolon, Khelafat Andolon and Jamiote Talabaye Arabia staged demonstrations in front of Jatiya Press Club.
Chanting “death to the United States and death to Israel”, the protesters burnt a US flag and threatened to go for further agitation if the US government did not arrest the film director in seven days.
