Sylhet BCL leader held in capital
Police arrested two of the main accused of a vandalism case, filed by a Sylhet CNG station owner, from a Fakirapool hotel in the capital yesterday.
The arrestees are Sylhet district pro-Awami League Bangladesh Chhatra League Vice-President Md Salim Ahmed Chowdhury and Saad Ullah.
Managing director of Surma Autocare CNG Filling Station in Shibganj area, Abdul Hasib Bhuyian, filed the case with Shah Poran Police Station on September 5.
Abul, in the case statement, said Salim and some 14 others attacked his staff and vandalised his station that night after he denied paying a Tk 5 lakh extortion.
Sylhet CNG station and tank lorry owners and petroleum dealers postponed their indefinite strike, scheduled from Saturday, to September 23 after police and local leaders on September 14 assured of arresting the accused in one week.
Police so far caught six people, including the two aforementioned, in connection with the case.
