Two clinic staff held over patient's death
Police arrested two staff of a clinic at Hazaribagh Ganoktuli in the capital yesterday on charge of neglecting their duties that left a patient dead.
The arrested persons are Roksana, 25, and Sajib, 22.
Nazma Begum, 30, was admitted to the Monju Health and Education Foundation Clinic on Saturday. The doctors removed a tumor from her stomach at night.
Later, the patient was bleeding from the operated area and no doctor was available to take care of her, relatives alleged.
Yesterday morning, owner of the clinic, Monjur Hossain, sent the patient to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) with the two staff, where she was declared dead.
Later, DMCH camp police arrested the two staff from the hospital and handed them over to Hazaribagh police.
Hazaribagh police said Nazma's father filed a case against five persons, including the clinic owner.
Monjur, doctors and the rest of the staff of the clinic went into hiding, the police said.
