Man to die for killing clinic doctor
A Dhaka court yesterday sentenced a man to death for killing a female doctor at her clinic chamber in the capital's Sabujbagh in 2009.
Judge Mohammad Akharuzzaman of the Third Additional Metropolitan Sessions Judge's Court handed down the verdict.
Earlier the prosecution and the defence completed their arguments and the court recorded statements of 15 prosecution witnesses.
Salma Parvin Moni, 28, a medical officer of Rawshan Ara Hospital Ltd, was stabbed to death by her 'suitor' on July 21 in 2009 after she refused to continue her relationship with the suitor.
Following the incident, Moni's maternal uncle Shamim Hossain filed a case with Sabujbagh Police Station accusing Mustafizur Rahman of killing the victim.
Investigation officer pressed charge against Mustafizur Rahman on September 22 the same year.
Assistant Public Prosecutor Salauddin Howlader appeared for the state.
