Humayun Ahmed's 'Ghetuputro Komola' to compete for Oscar

"Ghetuputro Komola" (Pleasure Boy Komola), a film by late Humayun Ahmed, has been selected to contest for Oscar award, the greatest honour in motion picture industry, in "Foreign Language Films" category. Oscar Bangladesh Committee Chairman Habibur Rahman Khan announced its selection at a press conference in the capital on Tuesday. Ghetuputro Komola is the last film directed by Humayun Ahmed, who passed away on July 19. It will compete for the 85th annual Academy Awards. Faridur Reza Sagar, managing director of Impress Telefilm Ltd, which produced the film, recalled a wishful Humayun while giving his reaction. "Before flying to the US, Humayun Ahmed told me if Bangladesh selected this movie for contesting Oscar, it would be an absolute pleasure for me."
