Heart-screening programme launched

Japan Bangladesh Friendship Hospital has launched a countrywide heart-screening programme to create mass awareness about the prevention of cardiac diseases. The seven-day long programme started with the hear-screening of journalists, officials and employees of Bangla newspaper the daily Prothom Alo in the capital yesterday, says a press release. A 15-member medical team of nurse, paramedic and volunteer, participated in the screening of 213 people of the newspaper. A total of 10,000 people of the country will come under the programme taken up on the eve of World Heart Day to be observed in September 29 with the theme "One world, one house, one heart."
