Five killed, eight injured in road crashes
Five people were killed and eight others injured in separate road accidents in Natore, Manikganj and Chittagong on Friday and yesterday.
Our Natore correspondent reports, two people were killed and eight others injured as a bus hit a human hauler from the opposite direction on Natore-Bogra highway in Sherkoil area of Singra upazila at around 9:00pm on Friday.
The deceased were identified as Zaher Ali, 30, son of Rahim Uddin of village Krisnapur in Natore sadar upazila, and Abdul Quddus, 35, son of Monir Ali of village Tebaria in the same upazila.
Singra Police Station Officer-in-Charge Fayesur Rahman said the Bogra bound passenger bus from Rajshahi rammed the Natore bound human hauler, carrying the ten, from Bogra in the area, killing the two and injuring the eight others.
They were taken to Natore Sadar Hospital. Later, five were shifted to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital where Zaher and Abdul Quddus died at about 10:30pm.
In Manikganj, two people were killed as a bus rammed a tempoo (human hauler) from the opposite direction on Dhaka-Aricha highway at Bhatbaur in sadar upazila on Friday night.
The deceased Mizanur Rahman, 35, son of Md Saijuddin of Char Bewtha in Manikganj municipality, was the tempoo driver. The identity of another, who succumbed to his injuries at Manikganj Sadar Hospital, could not be known.
Our staff correspondent from Chittagong reports, a truck driver was killed as another truck collided head-on with his one in Sitakunda upazila yesterday early morning.
The deceased was identified as Abdus Salam, 35, of Teknaf in Cox's Bazaar district.
He was taken to Chittagong Medical College Hospital (CMCH) at about 5:00am but the on-duty doctor declared him dead, said the CMCH outpost police.
