Eight Myanmar citizens held
Police yesterday arrested eight Myanmar citizens from different areas of Alikadam upazila in Bandarban on charge of illegally entering Bangladesh.
The arrestees are Md Ilias, 29, Hafez Ahmed, 26, Md Ibrahim, 20, Khairul Bashar, 28, Md Azal Mia, 19, Abdus Salam, 19, Nurul Hoque, 25 and Syed Alam, 36.
Mohammad Hosain, officer-in-charge (OC) Alikadam Police Station, said during primary investigation the arrestees said they all hail from Akyab State of Myanmar.
They entered Bangladesh in different times from two to six months back and worked as day labourers, said the OC. The eight were later produced before the court, he added.
