5 to die for killing trader in Gazipur
A Gazipur court on Wednesday sentenced five people to death for killing a gold trader at Bhannara of Kaliakoir upazila in the district in 2010.
The convicts are: Arif Hossain of Homna in Comilla district, Shamal Shutradhar of Mirjapur in Tangail district, Jaharul Islam and Anower Hossain of Kaliakoir upazila and Nikhil Chandra Shutradhar of Kalihati in Tangail district.
According to the case statement, Krishana Sarker, a gold trader of Pashim Bhannara village in Kaliakoir upazila went missing on January 4, 2010 after coming out of his home to his gold shop at Bhannara Bazaar.
The following morning his body was recovered two miles off his house from a water body at Babar village in the upazila.
A murder case was filed in this connection on January 5.
Mohammad Jakir Hossain of the First Additional Session Judge's Court of Gazipur handed down the verdict.
