Saudi wants to recruit more workers
Saudi Arabia had not stopped recruiting manpower from Bangladesh rather it was following a certain process in this regard, said the Speaker of Saudi Assembly yesterday.
“From now on, Bangladesh will export manpower in a systematic way and Bangladesh's manpower export market will further expand there,†the visiting Speaker of the Consultative Assembly of Saudi Arabia, Dr Sheikh Abdullah bin Mohammed bin Ibrahim Al-Sheikh, told journalists on his arrival in the capital.
The Saudi Speaker came on a four-day visit at the invitation of his Bangladesh counterpart Abdul Hamid. He is leading a 13-member parliamentary delegation.
He thanked the Bangladesh government for punishing the five convicts who killed Saudi Embassy official Khalaf Al Ali in the capital's Gulshan on March 6, last year.
Thanking Hamid for inviting him, he also said his visit would help further strengthen Bangladesh-Saudi relation.
Earlier, Hamid received the delegation at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport. Welcoming the delegation, he sought support from his counterpart for the betterment of all the Bangladeshi people, including doctors, engineers, nurses, and skilled and unskilled workers, who are living in Saudi Arabia.
The Saudi Speaker will meet Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina today in the evening at Gono Bhaban. He is also expected to meet President Zillur Rahman.
The Saudi Speaker was the minister of justice from February 1992 to February 2009. Since 2009, he has been the chairman of Majlis ash-Shura (Consultative Assembly).
