Recent rape incidents protested
In the wake of recent gang-rapes in Tangail and New Delhi, female rights activists yesterday formed a human chain at Rajshahi University demanding an end to violence against women.
Over 100 female rights activists under the banner “Bangladesh Mahila Parishad of RU Unit†formed the human chain in front of the university's Kazla gate beside Dhaka-Rajshahi highway.
Prof Shahanara Hossain, RU unit president of the parishad, Shipon Ahmed, RU unit Chhatra Union president, and Dr Sadekur Rahman of Proyash, a female rights organisation, also spoke at the event.
