Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina yesterday paid homage to Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman marking his Homecoming Day. She placed a wreath at Bangabandhu's portrait in front of Bangabandhu Memorial Museum at Dhanmondi in the capital and stood in solemn silence for some time. Hasina, also the president of Bangladesh Awami League, placed another wreath at the portrait on behalf of the party. Pro-AL organisations also laid wreaths at the portrait. On this day in 1972, Bangabandhu returned to an independent Bangladesh after nine and a half months of captivity in a Pakistan jail.
