Station to check air quality installed in Ctg
Operation of a newly installed Continuous Air Monitoring Station (CAMS) in Chittagong city was launched yesterday to bring the city's air quality under continuous monitoring.
Environment and Forests Minister Dr Hasan Mamud inaugurated the CAMS in Agrabad CDA residential area around 10:00am.
Under Clean Air and Sustainable Environment (CASE) project, Bangladesh Government and World Bank jointly funded the installation of the CAMS, the second of its kind in the port city.
Speaking as the chief guest in the inaugural ceremony, Hasan Mahmud said a total of 11 CAMS has been set up in the country.
Md Jafor Alam, director of department of environment in Chittagong, said the station will monitor scale of air pollution, quantity of air pollutants and quality of air on a continuous basis round the year.
With CASE Project Director Dr Nasir Uddin in the chair, lawmaker MA Latif also attended the programme as the special guest.
