Here are some comments that came in response to Tuesday's The Daily Star news report headlined “DEATH for Bachchu Razakar” Ali Miah
A traitor, rapist, murderer; he should die a dog's death. A normal hanging is not good enough. Harun Rashid
This is fabulous news. Millions of people were waiting for this historic verdict. Hope all war criminals will receive the same verdict and also execution will take place on time. War criminals deserve it. Nick
Congratulations to the Bangladeshi people for turning a page in bringing justice to the martyrs of 1971. Asad Zaman
I wonder who hired or allowed such a man to preach on TV in Bangladesh. I do not know whether there was any protest against his employment as a preacher on TV. Now many innocent Bangladeshis who followed his preaching without knowing his hidden identities (as razakar, killer and looter) would be shocked as he is given death sentence for his crimes against humanity. Ahmed Badruzzaman
This man was evil and yet millions were made to listen to his religious sermons in an independent Bangladesh. Isn't it shameful how we forget our history? Citizen
Citizens of Bangladesh welcome the trial and this verdict will free the country from the burden of guilt. It will give peace to the souls of the martyrs for whose sacrifice we are now citizens of an independent country. Kazi Salim
Thanks to the Almighty Allah for enabling the people of Bangladesh in getting death sentence by the International War Crimes Tribunal against one of the notorious razakars of 1971. This convicted razakar now has to be extradited from Pakistan at any cost. It is now the responsibility of the Pak government to handover him to the Bangladesh government immediately, for executing his death sentence. Mohammad Nurul Hoque
We are happy with this verdict. Thanks to The Daily Star for publishing the full text of the judgement. Dev Saha
Affected Hindus have been waiting for this day since long. Many of them already gave up the hope of any justice because it has been too traumatic to even think about the torment they had to go through during Liberation War. My Biology teacher was forced to convert and even that could not save his life at the end. One fateful day, he was slaughtered publicly on a street like an animal. Islam
All criminals should be punished for their misdeeds. Jamaat was involved in war crimes in 1971. And some AL politicians and businessmen have masterminded some of the country's biggest economic crimes since independence -- stock market scam, Destiny scam, Hallmark scam, etc. All those criminals should also be brought to justice. Then we can ensure a better future for Bangladesh. Reaz Hassan
I welcome wholeheartedly Abul Kalam Azad trial verdict. I hope, prosecution of justice will hold all perpetrators of crimes against humanity to account in a gradual and steady manner. Shafiuddin Ahmed
The killers will be punished, today or tomorrow. Safiqul Islam Safi
Finally he is going to be hanged. Thanks to IWCT.
